Abbie Jean Poole

Abbie Jean Poole, 88, wife of the late Dayton Poole, passed away Sunday, December 23, 2018.

Born in Grantham, NC, a daughter of the late Alvin Porter and the late Sarah Lee Westbrook Porter, she was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed gardening, sewing, art, golfing, reading, and spending time with her family. She welcomed new technology to maintain her relationships with family and friends. Mrs. Poole was a former school teacher and was a cherished member of First Baptist Church of Greenville.

Surviving are a son, Larry Dayton Poole of Greenville; a daughter, Sara Poole Eagleton of Anna Maria Island, FL; brothers, Herman Porter (Ruth) and Ray Porter (Sandy) of Goldsboro, NC; a sister, Mary Ellen McDonald (Robert) of Goldsboro, NC; a brother-in-law, Bob Poole (Martha) of Raleigh, NC; a sister-in-law, Kat Joyner of Greenville; and grandchildren, John Alexander Eagleton of Austin, TX, Jared William Eagleton (Jenn) of New York, NY, and Anna Courtland Poole of Greenville.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by brothers-in-law, C. Dan Joyner and Bill Newton; and a sister-in-law, Dot Newton.

Memorial services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, December 28, 2018 at First Baptist Greenville, 847 Cleveland Street, Greenville, SC, 29601.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. Friday, December 28, 2018 at the church, prior to the service.
