Dr. Adly A. Girgis

Dr. Adly A. Girgis was pronounced dead at 5:10 AM on Sunday, October 10, 2010 at age 64. Dr. Girgis was a distinguished professor and has been teaching at Clemson University since 1985.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Dr. Elham Makram, a distinguished Electrical Engineering professor at Clemson University; son, Ric Magid Girgis of Atlanta, GA; and daughter, Amy A. Girgis of Knoxville, TN. He is also survived by brothers Adel and Fakhry Girgis; and sister, Fawzia Girgis; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Adly lived an amazing, happy, Christian life and passed peacefully in the presence of his family and his closest friends from the Coptic Orthodox Church of Mauldin, SC.
The family asks that no one send flowers, but instead make a donation to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org to help find a cure to this terrible disease. You can make a memorial gift in his name to help fight back.
Funeral services will be 2 PM, Wednesday at St. Mary's Coptic Orthodox Church, 507 South Main Street, Mauldin, SC 29662. Burial will follow in Greenville Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 PM, Tuesday at Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home, 108 Cross Creek Road, Central, SC 29630.
