Agnes Ida Sjolund
Easley
Agnes "Ag" Bennett Sjolund slipped peacefully, courageously and with dignity from the surly bonds of earth on Monday, September 16, 2013. She did so thanks to the holistic and compassionate caregivers of Greenville Health System and the McCall Hospice House.
Born the second of five children to Grady and Kate Bennett in Greenville, SC, Agnes lived a fulfilling life. While working for Bell Telephone, she met and married Cliff Sjolund and then spent the next 44 years living in England and in several different US locations. During this time, Agnes raised two children, worked several part-time jobs (including making precision instruments for the fledgling US Mercury space program), and owned/operated two successful business ventures. She enjoyed playing pinochle, collecting antiques, taking car rides in the Minnesota woods looking for deer, crossing long bridges, watching professional tennis, and making friends laugh.
She cherished her friends and always valued their always-caring outreach.
Agnes' siblings Sarah Arrowood, Veston Bennett and Jean Allen preceded her in death as did her husband Cliff in 2008.
Her survivors include a sister Dorothy Carter of Easley, daughter Linda Sharp of Easley, son Cliff Sjolund and daughter-in-law Annette of Rochester, MN, five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, niece Terry Morgan of Easley, many other nieces and nephews, and sister-in-law Barbara (Julius) Feind of Rochester, MN.
Agnes was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church in Easley and looked forward to Sunday school classes. She was also a life member of the Eastern Star and VFW.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday, September 18, 2013 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Powdersville Road. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park in Greenville.
