Alan Dickie Grover, 89, of Easley, SC, passed away on July 6, 2024. He was born on April 25, 1935, in Woonsocket, RI, to the late Arthur White Grover and Doris Dickie Grover.
Alan was a morning person who loved starting each day with coffee and prayer. He had a positive attitude and was a loving husband and father. He was known for being an encourager and enjoyed helping others.
Alan is survived by his beloved wife, Janice Ruth Grover, and their children, Mark Alan Grover (Lori), Alice Jean Vaughn (Rob), Nancy Elizabeth Allan, and Daniel Roy Grover (Nancy). He is also survived by his brother, Raymond Grover, and sister, Lois Stringer. Alan was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Doris Grover. Alan cherished his 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Alan graduated from Burrillville High School in 1952. He completed his higher education at Rhode Island School of Design, where he studied Textile Chemistry, and the Institute of Textile Technology, where he pursued a Masters in Textile Management.
Alan had a successful career in Textile Management, working for Milliken & Company from 1958 to 1966; Burlington Industries from 1967 to 1972; and returning to Milliken & Company in 1973 until his retirement in 1992. Alan was founding member of Clemson Presbyterian Church PCA where he served for many years as a deacon. You can watch Alan sharing his faith journey here https://vimeo.com/936247778.
In his free time, Alan enjoyed sightseeing, camping, gardening, and bird watching. He also had a passion for Bible study and enjoyed watching TV shows such as old westerns, The Andy Griffith Show, and the news. Alan was a devoted fan of Clemson football. He had a fondness for Starbucks Frappuccino and all kinds of cheese.
Services will be held at Clemson Presbyterian Church PCA at 2 p.m. on July 12. The family will receive friends at the church following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations be made to the Deacons/ Mercy Fund at https://onrealm.org/clemsonpres/-/form/give/now. Further details of the ceremony will be provided by the funeral home assisting with the arrangements, Duckett-Robinson, located in Central, SC.
Alan will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
The Lord was his Shepherd and he will dwell in His house forever (Psalm 23).
