Dr. Alan Joseph Winters, 70, of Central, husband of Janis Causey Winters, died suddenly, Thursday, January 16, 2014 at his home.

Born in Miami, FL, he was a son of the late Albert E. and Ann C. Winters. Dr. Winters was a graduate of University of Louisiana-Monroe where he also earned his Masters Degree. He earned his PhD from Texas Tech. Dr. Winters was a Professor of Accounting at Clemson University for 20 years. Prior to Clemson he was on the faculty at LSU for 14 years and USC for 3 years. He was a member of Alive Wesleyan Church in Central and was a USArmy Veteran of the Vietnam Conflict.

Surviving in addition to his wife are three daughters, Rachel Lundeen of Denver, CO, Heather Hedden of Baton Rouge, LA and Alana Winters-Smith (Zach) of Ft. Collins, CO; sister, Terry Wainwright of West Monroe, LA; grandchildren, Hailey Hedden, Landon Hedden, Carter and Lillie Hedden.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Jerri McIntosh.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM, Saturday at Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home, Central, SC.

Funeral services and burial will take place in Baton Rouge, LA with Rabenhorst Funeral Home, East , 11000 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA 70821.
