Mr. Albert Manning Burgess, 87, of Pickens, husband of the late Sara Breazeale Burgess, passed away Monday, November 7, 2016 at St. Francis Hospital - Downtown.
Albert was born in Spartanburg County, SC on November 9, 1928 to the late John R. and Rachel Redden Burgess. He retired from Ryobi as a lead set-up man and in his free time enjoyed fishing, watching the Carolina Gamecocks, and watching the Atlanta Braves play baseball. Albert loved the Lord, and his family, was a U.S. Army Veteran, and a member of Roanoke Baptist Church.
Mr. Burgess is survived by a son; Rickey Burgess (Polly) of Pickens; a sister; Grace B. Robinson of Pickens, and two grandchildren; Chuck Patterson and Samantha Tate. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren; Emerald "Tater Bug" Tate, Jazmayn "Rambo" Tate, and Cheyanne Patterson; and a step brother-in-law; Donald Porter of Pickens.
In addition to his wife and his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter; Tammy Burgess; three brothers; Glover Burgess, Coleman Burgess, and Alton Burgess; five sisters; Octavia B. McGaha, Vera B. Jackson, Wilma B. Coefield, Virginia B. Mote, and Joann Burgess; and a great-grandson; Joshua Patterson.
Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday, November 10, 2016 in the Chapel of Robinson Funeral Home - Downtown, 305 W. Main Street, Easley. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Pickens.
The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Thursday prior to the service from 1:00 PM until 2:45 PM.
The family is at the home of Rickey and Polly Burgess.
