Alice B. Evans

Alice Breazeale Evans, 94, widow of John Stephen Evans, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 31, 2023 at Baptist Easley Hospital surrounded by her family and friends.

Born in Lebanon Community, outside of Pendleton, SC, Anderson County, SC. Alice was the daughter of the late John Allen Breazeale and Alma Othella Smith Breazeale. She graduated from the Anderson Hospital Nursing Program, becoming an RN in 1949. She and John spent five years in Cuba after which they returned to Clemson where she worked in the General Practice of Dr. Robert Burley. She retired from nursing when her children came along and she loved being at home for them.

Alice was a dedicated Christian who shared her love of Christ at every opportunity. She had a sweet spirit of compassion and love as she helped family and friends. Her love for cooking was enjoyed by many generations of family, friends, and Clemson students through church functions and Clemson football games. For those who were privileged to receive them, her annual Christmas cookie assortment highlighted her love and compassion. She was a Clemson fan through and through, and watched her Tigers win or lose. She was a dedicated member of Oconee Presbyterian Church in Seneca, SC.

Alice is survived by her son, John Marion Evans of New Zion, SC; Daughter, Alma Alice Evans of Clemson, SC; nephews and nieces as well as great and great great nephews and nieces.

In addition to her husband and parents, Alice was preceded in death by brothers Kennon Smith Breazeale, John Allen Breazeale Jr., and James Oliver Breazeale.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, September 2, 2023 at Oconee Presbyterian Church ARP, with burial to follow at Old Stone Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends and family prior to the service from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM at the church.

As a family, we want to express our deepest gratitude for the excellent care she received at Baptist Easley Hospital, Hospice Care of the Foothills, and Interim Home Health Care.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Alice’s memory may be made to Oconee Presbyterian Church ARP Building Fund, 121 Rochester Hwy, Seneca, SC, 29672 or a charity of your choice.
