Alice Sue "Susie" Thornton, 85, wife of Joseph Boswell Thornton, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 18, 2022 at her home, surrounded by her family.
Born in Cape Girardeau, MO, a daughter of the late Elbert Waide and the late Freda Virginia Barham Waide, she was a loving wife, mother, sister, and grandmother who enjoyed organizing events and spending time with her family. Susie was instrumental in creating events and organizations in Easley such as the Cub Scouts, the Foothills Festival in Old Market Square, the American Cancer Society Rock-A-Thon, and the Upstate Junior Classic Golf Tournament at Smithfields Country Club. She was a member of Easley First United Methodist Church.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are sons, Dennis Allen Thornton (Beverly) of Charleston and Sean Michael Thornton (LeAnne) of Easley; a daughter, Michelle Thornton Anders (Steve) of Easley; a sister, Virginia Lea Goggin of Arcadia, MO; and grandchildren, Joe Waide Anders of Easley, Erin Anders Davis (Grant) of Easley, Casey Alexandra Thornton of Charleston, Thomas Boswell Thornton of Charleston, Tanner Waide Thornton of Easley, Payton Lane Thornton of Easley, and Grayson Kennedy Thornton of Easley.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 22, 2022 at the Chapel of Robinson Funeral Home - Powdersville Road. Burial will follow in Robinson Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, prior to the service.
