Alva “Joyce” McNeely Lane, 79, of Powdersville, South Carolina, loving wife of Jerry Mitchel Lane, passed away on Thursday, October 22, 2026, at her home.
Born in Greenville, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Barney and Nettie Mae Hood McNeely. Joyce was a 1965 graduate of Wren High School. In that same year, she married Jerry, beginning a long marriage that remained one of the defining blessings of her life. Joyce worked in multiple office roles at JM Tull Metals before her retirement. She was known for the things she loved and the bright spirit she brought to everyday life. She loved her Yorkies, Ziva and Rainey, jewelry, Crocs, brightly colored clothing, and yellow was her favorite color. She was a member of Siloam Baptist Church. Some of Joyce’s happiest memories were tied to the places she loved most. Gatlinburg held a special place in her heart, she always wanted to stay at The Greystone Lodge on the River. She also cherished Edisto Beach, and her family remembers how much these places, along with the love of family and the strength of her marriage, reflected the life she held dear.
In addition to her husband of 61 years, she is survived by her two daughters, Kala Lane Frontroth (Stuart), and Neely Lane (Mark); a sister-in-law, Sheila Lanzer; three grandchildren, Cody Taylor, McKinsey Hammock, and Cassidy Taylor (William Belger); a great-granddaughter, Brayleigh Taylor; and her lifelong friend, Lib Stewart.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her infant daughter, Jeri Michelle Lane; a sister, Bonnie Evatt; and her childhood best friend, Marleen Jones.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, October 26, 2026, at Siloam Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 11:30 AM until 12:30 PM, on Monday at Robinson Funeral Home - Powdersville Road, prior to the graveside service.
Joyce will be remembered with love for her warmth, her personal style, and the joy she found in the people and places that meant the most to her. Her life was marked by devotion to family, faithful work, and the simple pleasures that made her unmistakably herself.
