Alvin Franklin Jones, 81, of 104 North B Street and husband of the late Jeffie "Jay" Cooper Jones, passed away Tuesday February 10, 2015 at his home.

Mr. Jones was born in Pickens, SC to the late Thomas L. Jones, Jr. and Bessie Ethelene Moody. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and later retired from Southern Bell after 38 years of service. He was a past president of the Bell South Telephone Pioneers and the Blue Ridge Council of the Pioneers. He was a member of Eastside Baptist Church in Liberty.

Surviving are three sons, Randall Alvin Jones (Cindy) of Greenville, SC, Mark Thomas Jones (Jean) and David William Brissey, all of Piedmont, SC; a daughter Amanda B. Wood, of Greer, SC; sisters, Rosa Huff (Doug), of Greenville, Mildred Stillwell (Don), of Easley, Bonnie Lou Keller and Ruby Nell Watta, both of Greenville; grandchildren, Kevin Jones, Keri Jones and Kayla Jones; Step-grandchildren, Whitney Andrews, Zack Andrews, Hannah Andrews, Kyle Wood and Tanner Brissey; two great-grandchildren, Luke Jones and Emma Jones; one step-great-grandchild, Keaton Andrews.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Thursday at Eastside Baptist Church. Entombment will follow in the Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum, Greenville.

Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until 1:45 pm Thursday, at the church, prior to the service.

The family is at the residence.
