Alvin Alexander Orr, 84, of 208 Orr Road, died Saturday, March 15, 2008 at his home.
Born in Anderson County, he was the son of the late William A. and Essie Merritt Orr. He was a Veteran of the US Army and a Purple Heart recipient. Mr. Orr was retired as a truck driver from Gaylord Box Company after 36 years and was a member of Mt. Airy Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Edna Nalley Orr of the home; a son, William Anthony Orr of Easley; three daughters, Linda Monroe of Hickory Tavern, Debbie Miller of Salem, Terri Neal of Fountain Inn; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, W. Louis Orr; and a sister, Lois Garrison.
Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Monday at Mt. Airy Baptist Church with Reverends Otis Darnell and Keith Shorter officiating.
The body is at Robinson Funeral Home - Downtown and will be placed in the church at 1:30 PM Monday where the family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:00 until 3:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Open Arms Hospice, St. Francis; 1836 West Georgia Road; Simpsonville, SC 29680.
The family is at the home.
