Obituary

Amanda "Mandy" Kay Cooley, 66, of Easley, SC, loving wife of her high school sweetheart, Phillip "Phil" Cooley, passed away suddenly on Thursday, July 9, 2026. Born on May 26, 1960, in Greenville, SC, she was the daughter of the late Robert "Bob" Estes and the late Dorothy "Kay" Stargel Estes. Mandy adored her family and cherished being a "Mama" to her children and a blessed "Nana" to her grandchildren.

She worked in retail until she and Phil started a family and she became a stay-at-home mom. Once her daughters started school, Mandy began her career as a media center clerk at East End Elementary. She remained in education as a media center clerk until her retirement from Pickens High School in 2020.

She attended Mount Pisgah Baptist Church with her family, where she enjoyed worshiping her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ through song, sermon, and fellowship.

Cooking was one of Mandy’s greatest gifts and a special way she brought her family closer together over meals prepared with love. She was also an avid reader and loved to travel.

In addition to her husband of 47 years, she is survived by her daughters, Ashley Brown (Dustin) and Kristen Traber (Will); her grandchildren, Makon Brown, Kaygen Brown, Waylon Traber, and Karsyn Traber; her brother, Robert “Robbie” Estes, Jr.; and her sisters, Lori Black (Tony) and Amy Wood (James).

The family will hold a private service with entombment in the Chapel of Reflection at Robinson Memorial Gardens.
