Andrea March Hughes, 62, beloved wife of William "Bill" Stewart Hughes, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, June 22, 2026. Born March 28, 1964, in Charleston, SC, Andrea lived a life defined by deep compassion, a vibrant artistic spirit, and an unwavering love for her family. To Bill, she was his one true love, his soulmate, and his other half throughout their 41 years of marriage and nearly 46 years together.
Andrea’s personality was truly effervescent. Bubbly, quick-witted, and naturally funny, she could happily carry on a conversation with anyone and easily made close friends wherever she went. Together, she and Bill were a steadfast team. She supported him completely through college and his military and civilian careers, transforming every new assignment into a warm home and beautifully raising their son. Andrea was always up for an adventure, so long as they were together—whether hiking "her mountains" in the Carolinas, playing pickleball with the “Death Valley Pickleball Gang”, or acting as Bill’s joyful "sous chef" as they prepared home-cooked meals together.
A remarkably caring person, Andrea’s compassionate heart extended to all living things. She was a dedicated registered nurse who excelled in critical care, but her nurturing spirit didn't stop at the hospital doors. She routinely rescued displaced turtles, adopted stray cats, and couldn't bear to see any creature suffer. Her creative soul found expression in her beautiful watercolor paintings and intricate fiber arts, weaving love into everything she created.
As a grandmother, Andrea’s ultimate goal was to ensure her grandchildren knew they were loved with her whole heart. She adored watching their personalities grow and deeply admired their curiosity about life. When she wasn't spending time with her family, she could often be found doing something artistic or creative.
Andrea was preceded in death by her parents. She leaves behind her devoted husband, Bill; her loving son, William Tyler Hughes, and his wife, Symatha; her cherished grandchildren, Piper Leigh, Amelia Grace, and Tobias Craig Hughes; and her brother, Howell Murray Blocker, III. She will be deeply missed for her laughter, her warmth, and the shared wonders she brought to the lives of everyone who knew her.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 10:45 AM on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Robinson Funeral Home Downtown, 305 West Main Street, Easley, SC 29640, with Andrea's Celebration of Life to follow at 11:00 AM in the chapel. A reception will follow from 12:00 PM until 1:30 PM at the South & West Event Venue, which is located directly across the street from the funeral home.
