Andrew Walton Newton, 76, of 301 Meredith Street, widower of June Norris Newton died Thursday, July 11, 2013 at Seneca Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Six Mile, he was a son of the late Wayman and Jessie Carnes Newton. Andy was a 1956 graduate of Daniel High School and was a retired machinist with Platt Saco Lowell in Easley. He was a member of Central First Baptist Church and a member of the Central Masonic Lodge.
Surviving are his four daughters, Teresa N. Henry (Carson) of Mountain Rest, SC, Tonia N. Walker (Rev. Craig) of Lewisville, NC, Della N. Moore (Maj. Phil) of Ft. Riley, Kansas and Andrea N. Spencer of Central; brothers, Alden Newton of Greenville, SC and Johnny Newton of Pickens; sister, Lucy N. Steele of Six Mile, SC; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Clannie Newton, Norris Newton and Buck Newton; and sisters, Gertrude Smith, Virginia Kelly and Helen Brucke.
Funeral services will be 2 PM, Sunday in the chapel of Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home, Central with Rev. Craig Walker officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens.
The family will greet friends immediately following the burial at Memory Gardens.
