Anita Lesley Nalley

Anita Faye Lesley Nalley, 84, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2025, surrounded by her loving family, including her husband of 66 years, George Burdine “Bud” Nalley, Jr. Born on June 4, 1940, in Easley, SC, she was the daughter of the late Mina Lee Lesley and Edna Hoxit Lesley. She graduated from Easley High School in 1958 and attended Columbia College in Columbia, SC before marrying Bud.

As a devoted young mother, Anita was actively involved in numerous community programs, including the Forest Acres PTA. She was a cherished member of the Dorothy O’Scott Garden Club, where she helped plan various fundraisers benefiting the community. Anita was exceptionally gifted musically, enjoying a lifetime of singing, playing the piano, and the flute. She taught piano lessons in her home for many years and loved singing in the choir at Easley Presbyterian Church. Her vocal and piano solos at weddings, funerals, and church services brought immense joy to all those fortunate to hear her. In 1980, Anita established T.C. Bearies Hallmark store, where she proved to be an excellent businesswoman. Her store became a local favorite shopping destination for 39 years. Anita cherished traveling with her husband, family, and friends. She was a deeply loving and involved grandmother to her 10 grandchildren, who called her "MaaMaa". Together with Bud, she took her grandchildren who she affectionately referred to as “Maa’s 10", on numerous trips around the country and abroad. Anita also enjoyed reading, the arts, gardening, and weekly dinners with their friends. Countless hours were spent at the beach, mountains, and the lake with her family creating many special memories. “MaaMaa” was always at her happiest on her porch in a hammock with a good book and one of her babies in her lap. She adored her family and being a grandmother and great-grandmother.

In addition to her parents, Anita was predeceased by her brother Marchant Lee Lesley.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by their 3 children, LeAnn Heil (Bob), Kathy DuBose (Dial), and Wes Nalley (Dawn); 10 grandchildren, Annie Rossley (Tyler), George DuBose (Sarah), Megan Revson (Will), John DuBose (April), Alex Turner (Chase), Mary Katherine Lentz (Joe), Mary Ashton Dukes (David), Bennett Nalley (Annie), Weston Nalley (Emily), and Kate Mills (John), as well as 16 great-grandchildren. The family would like to extend their love and heartfelt gratitude to Anita’s friend and caregiver Faye Hendrix for the wonderful care provided, as well as to the staff of Lutheran Hospice and the Foothills Retirement Community.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 20, 2025, from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM in the blue room at Easley Presbyterian Church. The funeral service will follow in the church sanctuary at 3:00 PM. A private family entombment will be held in the Glen Vista Mausoleum of Robinson Memorial Gardens.
