Ann Slatton Gillespie

Mrs. Ann Slatton Gillespie, 82, wife of Gary A. Gillespie, went to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday, January 24, 2026.

Born in Pickens County, a daughter of the late Jack Slatton and the late Hazel King Slatton, Ann was a graduate of Pickens High School and was the owner and operator of Ann Gillespie Hair Salon. She was a member of Secona Baptist Church.

Ann was a resilient and nurturing woman, known for her strength, quick wit, and protective spirit. Thoughtful, supportive, and dependable, she devoted her life to her family and found deep joy in watching her children and grandchildren pursue the things they loved. She prayed faithfully and never failed to encourage others to do the same. She cherished life's simple blessings: watching birds, especially her beloved red birds; seeing her flowers bloom; sitting on the porch with Papa; shopping for and giving thoughtful gifts; and sending cards that reminded others they were loved.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are her sons, Mike Gillespie (Tammy) of Pickens, and Jeremy Gillespie (Elizabeth) of Lafayette, CO; a brother, Tony Slatton of Pickens; a sister, Sandra Hunter (Mike) of Pickens; and the loves of her life, her grandchildren; Kirkland, Kaylee, Kaci, Max, Palmer, and Emmelin. She is also survived by extended family members, Perry and Debra Gillespie, and family; Joel and Carolyn Gillespie, and family; Tommy and Ann Gillespie Garren and family; Travis Mauldin and Kelly Slatton and family; and Judy Mote and family.

A private burial for the family will be held in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Pickens. Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Monday, February 2, 2026 at Secona Baptist Church, Pickens.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until 2:45 PM Monday at the church, prior to the service.
