Ann Ortino

Easley, SC

Ann Sue Priester Ortino of Easley, SC, went to her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, November 15th at the age of 91. She was born in Morganton, NC, to James Wilson Priester and Susan Hardin Priester. A kind and loving soul, Sue was a mother, grandmother, wife, caregiver, sister, and friend; she was loved by all who knew her. Sue was raised in Grover, NC, where she graduated from Grover High School. Upon graduation, she was employed as a telephone operator at BellSouth and retired after many years of service. Afterwards, she and her husband Don Ortino, the love of her life, were active in the Telephone Pioneers, where they were exemplars of service for their community. In her twilight years, Sue helped care for her mother, her husband Don, and her sisters Ena Martin and Mary Dorsey as they passed into the Lord’s embrace.

Sue was the center of a large and loving family, and she greatly enjoyed spending quality time with those she loved. She was gentle and kind in all things, always putting others before herself. She was blessed with good health throughout her life and proudly maintained independence until her final hour.

Sue was predeceased by her parents, her sisters Norma Robinson, Ena Martin, and Mary Dorsey, her husband Don Ortino, and her sons Lon Henry Hardin, Jr. and Bill Ortino. She is survived by her children Mark Hardin (Shanda) of Ramseur, NC, Jeff Hardin of Beech Mountain, NC, Mike Ortino (Audrey) of Pickens, SC, Susan Knight of Easley, SC, Donna Davis (Ted) of Pembroke Pines, FL, and John Ortino of Alabaster, AL, her sister Martha Carter of Leesburg, FL, and her brothers Dr. Robert Priester of Cary, NC and Rev. Bill Priester (Joan) of Fayetteville, GA. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will miss her greatly.

A memorial service is being planned for a later date.
