Anna Ruth Cannon was a beloved grandmother, mother, and wife during her incredible 91 years of life. She passed away peacefully on May 6, 2022.
Anna Ruth will always be remembered as a beautiful, loving wife and partner to her husband, Dannie Cannon, Sr for over seventy-one (71) years. With a quiet demeanor and endearing love, she raised two children: her daughter Glenda (who preceded her in death) and her son Dannie Cannon, Jr (Claudia). She carried that love forward by doting on her grandchildren: Urasa Weaver, Vanessa Glaze and Dannie D. Cannon with her yummy pancakes, gift of baking, check-in telephone calls, ready hugs, adoring words, and a few dollars “to get us a bite to eat”. And with that same spirit, she did the same for her great-grandchildren: Noah, Rebekah, Lathan, and Tyson. There was never any judgement with Anna Ruth, just strength, compassion, generosity, warmth, and unconditional love. She exceeded in them all.
Anna Ruth had a long and full life. Born on November 21, 1930 in Calhoun, SC, she was the daughter of the late Rosa Jean Fruster and David and Nancy Green. She was a longtime member of Goldenview Baptist Church serving as a Sunday school teacher, choir member, usher, and member of the Goldenview Matron’s Club. She worked at Milliken (Defore) as a lab technician and retired from there after twenty-nine (29) years. Anna Ruth enjoyed sports, baking, traveling, and spending time with her family. No one left her house hungry or without getting a hug.
Anna Ruth touched the heart and soul of everyone that met her. She will be greatly missed by her husband, her son and daughter-in-law, her grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren as well as her brothers, David Green, Jr. and Matthew Green, her sister-in-law Annie Pearl Grant and husband Jonah, brother-in-law Theodore Harrison, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
