Anna Carr Ingram, age 99, of Rolling Green Village, passed away Thursday, March 10, 2016 at St. Francis Hospital.
Born in Wheeling, West Virginia, Anna was a daughter of the late James Michael and Elizabeth Trosch Carr. She graduated from St. Joseph's Academy and Elliott Business College in Wheeling. Mrs. Ingram was employed as a Supervisor Personnel Specialist, Naval Air Station, Norfolk, VA for over twenty years and retired in December 1973. She received several Superior Performance Awards from the Naval Air Station for outstanding service.
Anna was the first President and Founder of the Hibiscus Garden Club, Ft. Pierce, FL. For a number of years, she was very active in the Asheville Civic Woman's Club and served as Vice President. She was involved as a faithful volunteer at St. Francis Women's Hospital for several years as well as St. Joseph's Hospital, Asheville, NC and Norfolk General Hospital, Norfolk, VA.
At Rolling Green Village, she served on the Hospitality Committee, Caring and Welcoming Committee, Library Committee and Health Care as well as the Financial Committee. Mrs. Ingram was on the board of Trustees, YMCA Eastside Branch, Greenville, SC and Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters, Norfolk, VA. She was a former member of St. Eugene Catholic Church, Asheville, NC, and present member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, Greenville. In addition, Anna was a member of St. Francis Hospital Life Wise Center for Seniors.
Anna and her husband were lifelong companions enjoying travel throughout the country and abroad together. She was always looking for the next adventure to share with her friends and family. She was a vivacious lady with a very caring heart and talking with her was like spending time with an old friend for she never met a stranger.
Surviving are a son, Stan M. Ingram, Jr. and his wife, Cary of Greenville; a beloved granddaughter, Anna-Barton Ingram; a nephew, Dr. Edward John Bernhart, and his wife, Jill, of Great Falls, VA; four special great nephews; and one special great niece. Mrs. Ingram was predeceased by her husband, Stanley M. Ingram; and her identical twin sister, Alma Carr Bernhart.
Private graveside services will be held on Friday March 18, 2016 at Lewis Memorial Park in Asheville, NC.
