Annie Ruth Williams Evatt, 94, widow of L. O. Evatt, Sr., died Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at her residence. She was born April 5, 1916 in the Lebanon Community, Anderson County to the late Jasper Martin Williams and Annie Moriah Breazeale Williams. She was a retired R.N. who graduated in the 1940 class from the Anderson School of Nursing in Anderson, SC. She was a member of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Central, a former Sunday school teacher, Cub Scout den mother, and a former member of the order of The Eastern Star.
Surviving are her sons; William Daniel "Dan" Evatt (Janice) of Central and L.O. "Buddy" Evatt, Jr. of Central; grandchildren, Dana Evatt Sloan (Jason) of Elgin, SC, Kayla Evatt Waldrop (Jon) of Williamston, SC, Ashleigh Evatt, David Evatt, Daniel Evatt, and Paige Evatt all of Central; great-grandchildren, Cameron and Wyatt Sloan of Elgin, SC and Ayden and Avery Waldrop of Williamston, SC. She was predeceased by siblings Vivian King, Louise Miller, Ellen Haney, and Allen Williams.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 pm in the chapel of Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home in Central with burial to follow at Oconee Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Friday 6 to 8 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Interim Healthcare Hospice, 775 Spartan Blvd., Spartanburg, SC 29301.
