Mr. Arlon Gray Hottinger, 84, of Easley, formerly of Mt. Crawford, VA. went to be with his Lord and Savior on June 18, 2015 at Brookdale of Easley.
Arlon was born in Bergton, VA on March 14, 1931 to the late J.W. and Minnie Crider Hottinger. He graduated from Port Republic High School in 1948 and married Marie Alexander on September 9, 1950. He purchased the family farm where he grew up and in his spare time loved to farm. He raised sheep, beef cattle, and took advantage of his wooded land by hunting various game. He was employed by several factories including Crompton, G.E., and Genicom. In his recent years, he attended Gethsemane Baptist Church in Greenville, SC, where his son-in-law is pastor.
In addition to his wife of nearly 65 years, he is survived by two daughters; Janice Gatlin (Rev. Dr. Ron); and Sherry Provencher (Richard); four grandchildren; Rachel Gatlin, Mark Provencher, Joy Hancock (Mark), and Dawn Provencher; two great-granddaughters; Amber and Allison Baker; a sister-in-law; Delores Hottinger; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother; Leonard Hottinger; three sisters, Geneva Albrite, Nena Saufley, and Rita Showalter; and a granddaughter; Rhonda Gatlin.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, June 20, 2015 in the Chapel of Robinson Funeral Home - Downtown. A private family interment will follow at Springhill Memorial Gardens in Chesnee, SC near his granddaughter.
A Memorial service in Harrisonburg, VA will also be announced at a later date.
The family will receive friends prior to the service on Saturday, June 20, 2015 from 12:00 PM until 12:45 PM at Robinson Funeral Home - Downtown.
