Arthur A. Swank, 76, passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 1, 2020. He was born in Elmira, New York, October 21, 1943, to Arthur and Grace Swank Wood and later was adopted by his maternal grandparents, Walter and Grace Swank.
Art graduated from Southside High School in Elmira, and later received an Associates degree from Penn College in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. On September 27, 1962, Art married the love of his life, Beth Trice, and together they spent 57 wonderful years with lots of memories. They moved to South Carolina in 1991 because their granddaughter Hannah was born, and they wanted to be near their family. Art enjoyed fishing and car racing. He loved to go camping, especially taking trips up north. Art was known best for his sense of humor and making people laugh.
Art is survived by his beloved wife, Beth; a son, Ed (Kathy) of Seneca; a daughter, Pamela Spearman (Donnie) of Bryson City, North Carolina; a sister, Shirley Dean (Tom) of Wellsburg, New York; a granddaughter, Hannah Trotter (Todd) of Easley; and two great grandchildren, Hank and Caroline Trotter of Easley.
In addition to his parents, Art was predeceased by his brother, Walt Swank.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 PM Saturday, January 4, at Trinity Wesleyan Church, 700 Issaqueena Trail, in Central.
The family will receive friends following the service.
