Artlitz Collin Whitten

November 21, 1934 — April 12, 2013

Artlitz Collin (Sonny) Whitten, Jr. 78, of Clemson, loving husband of Janice (Jan) Evans Whitten, passed away on Friday, April 12, 2013.

Born in Clemson, he was the son of the late Artlitz C. Whitten, Sr. and Lillian Spears Whitten.

Mr. Whitten was a member of Lawrence Chapel United Methodist Church, having served as a trustee, and served on the cemetery and building committees. He was a Past Master of Masonic Lodge 254 in Clemson, was retired from Clemson University and the South Carolina National Guard.

Surviving in addition to his wife, are two sons, Tim Whitten and his wife Jeanie, of Tega Cay, SC and Barry Whitten and his wife Rhonda, of Central; one daughter Lori Wilbanks and her husband Jamie of Central; grandchildren, the joys of his life, Kathryn and John Whitten and Justin Wilbanks; a niece Elizabeth T. Rogers and his loyal dog, Nugget.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a sister, Catherine W. Towell and a niece, Deborah Towell Smith.

A special thanks to everyone at Hospice of the Upstate for their love and care given to Sonny, during this difficult time. He loved all of you. To our family you are angels.

Funeral services will be at 2:30 P. M. Monday, April 15, 2013, at Lawrence Chapel United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 P. M. until 8:00 P. M. Sunday, April 14, 2013 at Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Rd, Anderson, SC 29621 or to Lawrence Chapel United Methodist Youth, 2101 Six Mile Hwy. Central, SC 29630
