Easley
Robert Austin McCollum, 16, of 503 Hamlin Road, died Sunday, July 19, 2009 in Oconee County as a result of a motor vehicle accident.
Born in Easley, he was a son of Robert Jeffrey and Angela Hooper McCollum of Easley. He was a rising Junior at Wren High School and was a member of the football and wrestling teams. Austin was a two time 4 - A Regional Wrestling Champion and was a very active outdoors sportsman.
In addition to his parents, Austin is survived by a brother, Brook McCollum; a sister, Abbygayle McCollum ; his paternal grandmother, Helen McCollum, all of Easley; his maternal grandparents, Huey and Shirley Hooper of Pickens; a half sister, Dee Holliday and her husband Eddie, of Easley; uncles and aunts, Matthew and Shan McCollum of Easley, Starla McCollum of Statesboro, Georgia, Ron and Tabatha Sims of Dacusville, and Steve and Susan Karr of Gainesville, Georgia; a nephew, Brayden Holliday of Easley and many very special cousins.
Austin was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Fred McCollum.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home - Downtown. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
The family is at the home of his grandmother, Helen McCollum, at 155 Nora Avenue, Easley 29640 and also at the home of his grandparents, Huey and Shirley Hooper, 223 Judy Drive, Pickens 29671.
