Ayliffe Robinson Jacobs Bogle, 82, of Marietta, GA died peacefully with her family by her side Monday, March 5, 2012 at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, GA.

Ayliffe Robinson Jacobs Bogle, daughter of Ayliffe Robinson Jacobs and Thomas Dillard Jacobs, was born November 1, 1929 in Clinton, SC. Her mother was later Director of Whitten Village School for the Handicapped. Ayliffe was the great-granddaughter of Dr. William Plumer Jacobs, founder of Presbyterian College and Thornwell Orphanage. She attended Winthrop College, Rock Hill, SC and Harris Advertising Art School, Nashville, TN.

Ayliffe is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years, Kenneth Bogle of Marietta, GA; sons and daughters-in-law Kenneth Lyons Bogle and Lieben Frassrand Bogle of Woodstock, GA, Barry Alexander Bogle and Laura Ward-Bogle of Lawrenceville, GA, John Robinson Bogle and Leta Mauge Bogle of Atlanta, GA and son-in-law and daughter, Alan James Williams and Elizabeth Anne (Betsy) Williams of Marietta, GA. She is also survived by grandchildren, Ben, Zach and Caroline Williams, Lindsay, John, and Jake Bogle, Alexandra and Joe Bogle and Amanda and Andrew Bogle; and two great-grandchildren, Jeremiah and Isaiah Bogle. Ayliffe was predeceased by her daughter, Nancy Jane Bogle.

Ayliffe was a kind and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She instilled in her family a passion for food and cooking in the southern tradition. She was also an avid reader from an early age. When she was young it was well known in her family that she could usually be found in their apple tree reading a book.

Ayliffe pursued a career as a commercial artist until children came along. She was an accomplished portrait painter and watercolorist, as well as an excellent seamstress and quilter. She also taught at Marietta Fine Arts Club.

Ayliffe and her husband Ken were members of John Knox Presbyterian Church in Marietta, GA for over 40 years. She was until recently, active in her church as an Elder, Sunday School teacher and volunteer English tutor. Ayliffe also served as a leader with the Presbyterian Church in America's Women in the Church.

Ayliffe did extensive genealogical research tracing her Mother's Robinson family line, corresponding with family members across the country, and publishing family historical information.

Memorial service will be Sunday, March 18, 2012, 3:00 PM, at John Knox Presbyterian Church, 505 Powers Ferry Road, S.E., Marietta, GA.

Graveside services will be Saturday, March 10, 2012 at 1:00 PM, at Westview Cemetery, Easley, SC.

Visitation will be from 11:30 AM until 12:45 PM, at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Thornwell Orphanage, 302 South Broad Street, Clinton, SC 29325, or John Knox Presbyterian Church, 505 Powers Ferry Road, Marietta, GA 30067.
