Barbara King Black

Barbara King Black, 87, wife of John Olar Black, Jr. passed away on Saturday, October 1, 2022 at her home, surrounded by her family.

Born in Easley, SC, she was a daughter of the late James Samuel King and the late Edna Henson King. She was a graduate of Easley High School and Mars Hill Junior College. Over a span of forty years and her husband John's employment relocations, Barbara worked in many places and positions. The most notable including Daniel Construction Company, Utica Mohawk, Rocky River Mill, and Clemson University in the Counseling Center, the Weather Department, and the Seed Certification Department. Barbara also worked as an aid in two Walhalla Elementary Schools and an Elementary School in Seneca. She was a member of Berea First Baptist Church.

Surviving, in addition to her husband of sixty-six years, are a son, John Cameron Black and his wife, Martha of Simpsonville; a daughter, Lisa Black Sweet and her husband, Reverend Greg Sweet of Lugoff; grandchildren, Reverend Neal Sweet (Jessica), Reverend Nathan Sweet (Kelli), Preston Black (Kelly), and Quincy Black (Anna Beth); great-grandchildren, Tripp Sweet, Anna Grace Sweet, Logan Sweet, Sophia Rose Sweet, Jayson Sweet, and Danielle Sweet; and one great-granddaughter on the way.

She was predeceased by her parents and a sister, Carolyn Sanders.

Funeral services will be held at 3:15 p.m. Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at the Chapel of Robinson Funeral Home - Powdersville Road. A private burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home, prior to the service.
