Barbara Copeland, 88, passed away on Thursday, August 27, 2015 at The Woodlands at Furman, Greenville, SC. She was married to Jim Copeland for 57 years until his death in December 2005. Having grown up in Burke County, GA, she was the daughter of the late Jones and Lucile Bargeron. Her family is thankful for the enormous blessing of having known, loved and been loved by such a beautiful, selfless, godly, Southern lady.

She attended Shorter College and graduated from the University of Georgia in 1947 with a degree in Music Education. Her lifelong love of piano playing became her ministry. Having lived in Clemson, SC since 1953 she was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church, having served as Sunday School teacher in the 5 year old department for over 49 years and in leadership in the Baptist Women's organization. She was a former kindergarten teacher and piano teacher. Barbara was active at the Clemson Downs Retirement Community as a volunteer/piano player and resident until her last years when she moved to The Woodlands at Furman.

She is survived by daughters, Carol Copeland of Asheville, NC and Cile (Bob) Vickery of Easley, SC; grandchildren, William Russell of Asheville, NC, Ann Russell Burgess of Sylva, NC, Carrie Vickery Meisenheimer (Mike) of Greenville, SC and Beth Ann Vickery of Greenville, SC; great grandchildren, Graham Burgess and Copeland, Anna Cile, and Riggs Meisenheimer.

Memorial services will be held at First Baptist Church, Clemson, SC at 11:00 on Thursday, September 10 with visitation following the service. The Vickery family will also receive friends at the home of Cile Vickery, Easley, SC on Wednesday, September 9 from 6:00 to 8:00. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Clemson, SC or Campus Outreach Greenville, Greenville, SC. The family would like to thank the many friends that cared for and loved her at The Woodlands at Furman and at RoseCrest.
