Barbara Jo Cagle Croley, 79, of Greenville, South Carolina, wife of Lonny W. Croley, passed away on Tuesday, October 14, 2025.
Born in Greenville, South Carolina, on December 14, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Franklin and Beulah Laws Cagle. She lived with a vibrance that colored every moment, a testament to the firecracker personality that ignited joy in the hearts of those fortunate enough to know her. Barbara was a loving and fun mother, a guiding light whose compassion was rivaled only by her zest for life. With a heart full of music, she imparted to her children an enduring love for the melodies of Blue Grass and the rhythms of Rock and Roll. It was not just music; it was the soundtrack of a life lived passionately, echoing through family gatherings and joyful celebrations. As a grandmother, Barbara's easygoing nature shone even brighter. She cherished her family with a devotion that fostered laughter and connection, never missing an opportunity to bask in the warmth of her loved ones. Her playful spirit was underscored by a delightful quirk that embraced change—getting her first tattoo in her 50s, a bold statement of living life on her own terms. Barbara was not just a mother and grandmother; she was a passionate individual with a myriad of interests that painted her world in vibrant hues. She played softball with the fierce determination of a champion, rode Harleys with the wind at her back and the sun in her hair, and clogged her way through countless happy moments. Her love for animals and loyalty to Tennessee football revealed the layers of her multifaceted character, each passion adding depth to her spirit.
In addition to her husband of 61 years, she is survived by two sons, Richie Croley (Lee Ann) and Rodney Croley (Lori); a brother, Donnie Cagle; two grandchildren, Renny Croley (Kayla) and Jared Croley (Terri); and four great-grandchildren, Waelynn Croley, Oaklyn Croley, Sutton Croley, and Avaree Branham. She also leaves behind a friend, neighbor, and caretaker, Brandy Moore, who became like family to her.
She is predeceased by one brother, Walter Cagle.
