Barbara Wright Fox, 90, passed away on Wednesday, June 6, 2018.
Born in Saginaw, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Alice Hager Wright. Barbara was a graduate of Michigan State University and earned a Master's Degree in Education at Clemson University. She taught at four public schools in Pickens County and was a Reading Consultant in Anderson County. After retiring as a lifelong educator, she stayed very active playing tennis and square dancing, which led her to meet Dr. Rudolph Elling who became her dancing partner and treasured companion until his death. She also enjoyed traveling with friends at her church, Fort Hill Presbyterian Church, and she had a passion for knitting, and she enjoyed teaching that craft to others.
She is survived by three sons, James "Jim" Fox of Seneca, Bruce Fox (Linda) of Travelers Rest, and Joel Fox of Newry; grandchildren, Michael and Benjamin (Alyssa) Fox; great grandson, Keegan J. Waldrop; brothers, Ron Wright (Nancy) of Boyne City, Michigan and Floyd Wright (Nancy) of Boyne City, Michigan.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was predeceased by a brother, Dale Wright.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date at Fort Hill Presbyterian Church.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Thornwell Children's Home, in Clinton, SC or to The Friends of the Brooks Center, Clemson, SC.
