Barbara Rhodes

Barbara “Bobbie” Jean Rhodes, 91, of Anderson SC, wife of late husband Bruce Rhodes, went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 8 , 2024 surrounded by her family. Born in Anderson, SC, she was the daughter of the late Perry and Estelle Burns.

She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future. Proverbs 31:25 (NLT)

This Bible verse perfectly encompasses our beloved Mother, Nanny as the grandchildren called her and Nanny Bobbie as all the great children called her. After retiring from Lafrance Industries in the 70’s, she was a stay-at-home mother to her daughter and had a hand in rearing her grandchildren and even some of her great grandchildren. The summers were made up of homemade buttered biscuits in the mornings and Bible studies at lunch with sandwiches and sweet tea.

She was the most faithful and loving wife and mother, the Matriarch of our family, and will be dearly missed by all.

She is survived by her sons Larry Rhodes and Ricky Rhodes, daughter Melissa Poston (Jason), grandchildren Tammi Burdette (Bracken), Shane Rhodes, Shannon Gentle (Tom), Cody Rhodes, Mackenzie Poston-Crawford (John) and Jesse Poston, 13 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her beloved husband of 53 years until his passing and her parents, she is predeceased in death by her son Jesse Robert Rhodes, grandson James Casey Rhodes, her sisters, Ruby Swaney and Louise Maroney and two beloved daughters-in-law Brenda Marlene Rhodes and Brenda Kaye Rhodes.

A Visitation will be held Saturday, October 12, 2024 from 10:00 AM until 10:45 AM at Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home. 

A funeral service for Barbara will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Duckett Robinson Funeral home with burial at Forest Lawn immediately following the service.

Flowers will be accepted.

The family is at the home of her daughter, Melissa Poston.
