Barbara Chandler Maxwell Robinson
June 24, 1921 – January 28, 2017
Barbara completed her 95.6 trips around the sun and is rejoicing with her family and friends who completed their journeys before her. The daughter of James Thomas and Martha Lillian Busha Maxwell of Dewy Rose, Georgia, she took the path less traveled by women of her day. Growing up on the farm she enrolled in the traditional male dominated agriculture classes at West Georgia. She finished her first year with the highest averages in the agriculture class. She then moved on and became an air traffic controller working in several airports throughout the southeast. While working at Spartanburg airport she met her husband Gilbert C Robinson, a geologist with the TVA and soon to be professor and founder of Ceramic Engineering at Clemson University. The years passed quickly as she raised three sons and a daughter in Clemson. In addition to her children there were many pet dogs at her side through the years. She was a member of the Andrew Pickens Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Once the children were older she returned to work for 17 years with the National Council of Engineering Examiner's.
She is survived by her children; Gilbert Chase Robinson Jr , Chandler Charles Robinson, Timothy Maxwell Robinson, Barbara Anne Robinson Price.
Barbara was predeceased by her husband; Gilbert C Robinson, her sisters; Sara Hester Maxwell Koch, Martha Lillian Maxwell, and Betty Turner Storey.
