Barbara Smith

Barbara Oates Smith, 75, wife of John Richard Smith, Sr., passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at her home.

Born in Easley, a daughter of the late Rufus William Oates and the late Lillie Southerland Oates, she was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed reading, crosswords, walking, Bible studies, and other church activities. Mrs. Smith was a cherished member of St. Andrew United Methodist Church in Easley.

Surviving are her husband, John Richard Smith, Sr. of Easley; a son, John R. Smith, Jr. of Easley; daughters, Julie L. Smith of Easley and Jennifer S. McCarson (David) of Marietta; a sister, Patricia Soubeyroux of Mt. Pleasant; and a granddaughter, Taylor Quinn McCarson.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by brothers, James Oates and Jessie Edward Oates; and a sister, Kitty McAlister.

Memorial services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, October 29, 2018 at the Chapel of Robinson Funeral Home - Downtown.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:15 p.m. Monday, October 29, 2018 at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to St. Andrew United Methodist Church, 309 Pelzer Highway, Easley, SC 29642.
