Barbara Argyle Gladden Vogel, 83, formerly of Clemson and widow of Henry E. Vogel, died Thursday, January 9, 2014 at NHC Greenville, SC.
Born in Marion, NC, she was a daughter of the late Ethel Hennessee and William McKinley Gladden Sr. She was a graduate of Limestone College and prior to her marriage was a social worker with the State of North Carolina. She was a homemaker, active in the Clemson community, co-founder of Clemson Community Care, and the longest continuous member of University Lutheran Church.
Surviving are a son, Henry Vogel (Audrey) of Raleigh, NC; daughters, Lisa Pickens (Bill) and Barbara Evers (Bruce) both of Greer, Susan Keck of Clemson; brothers, William McKinley Gladden and Wayne Kent Gladden both of Salisbury, NC; 11 grandchildren, Heidi Cox, Erin Pickens, Tisha Cox, Christopher Evers, Andrea Pickens, Terri Evers, Nathan Evers, Jessica Pickens, Courtney Keck, Stephanie Keck and Brandt Vogel; great-grandchildren, Victoria Cox, Riley Evers and Amari Cox.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Robert J. Gladden.
Memorial services will be 3 PM, Sunday, January 12, 2014 at University Lutheran Church in Clemson.
The family will greet friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall.
