Mr. Ben Frank Hester, Sr., 62, husband of Mrs. Elanor Sue Price Hester, passed away Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born in Greenville County, a son of the late Joe Berry and Sara Josephine Hester, Mr. Hester retired from the United States Postal Service and was a member and Deacon of Wren Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War having served in the U.S. Army where he received a Purple Heart.
Surviving in addition to his wife of the home, are a son, Russell Kemp Hester of Easley; a daughter, Jennifer Tennille Hester Gilbert (Blant) of Liberty; a sister, Louella Schmuck (Raymond) of Dacusville; one sister-in-law, Judy Hester of Fairplay and two grandsons, Skyler and Austin Gilbert of Liberty. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hester was predeceased by a son, Ben F. Hester, Jr.; two brothers, J.B. Hester and Robert (Bob) Hester; and two sisters, Sara Waring and Deborah Sue Hester.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown with Rev. Harold Sanders and Rev. Gene Neely officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.
The family is at the residence.
