Mr. Benjamin Garnett "Ben" Boren, 80, husband of Marilyn Harden Boren, passed away Monday, August 5, 2013 at his home.

Born in Cateechee, SC, a son of the late Deles and Annie Nicholson Boren, Mr. Boren started his career as a South Carolina Highway Patrolman and later went to work with State Farm Insurance, where he retired with over thirty years of service. He was of the Methodist faith and was a US Navy veteran, having served in the Korean War and in Vietnam. Ben was past president of the South Carolina Gem and Mineral Society.

Surviving, in addition to his wife of fifty-nine years, are a son, Ben Boren of Charlotte, NC; a step-brother, William Jerry Gibson of Easley; and two grandchildren, Eric and Emily Boren. Also a niece Sue Ann Moser, and nephews Deles Boren Jr. and Dr. Ed Boren and wife Candy. In addition to his parents, Mr. Boren was predeceased by two brothers, Deles Woodrow Boren, and Edward Boren. Ben was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 7, 2013 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown with Rev. Harold Nicholson and Rev. Scott Willis officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. Wednesday prior to the service, at the funeral home.

The family is at the home.
