Benjamin S. Brooks, 80, of 107 Summer Street, passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2011, at his home.

Born in Royston, GA, a son of the late O.A. and Adlaide Abbott Brooks, Mr. Brooks retired from Woolworth Distribution Center after seventeen years of service. He served with the US Air Force during the Korean War, and was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Frances Stowe Brooks of the home; two sons, Benjamin Sanford Brooks, Jr., (Angie) of Easley, and Johnathan Matthew Brooks of Spartanburg; a brother, Charles Brooks of Williamston; two sisters, Sara Davison of Royston, GA, and Jeanette McCurry of Ellijay, GA; four grandchildren, Adam Brooks, Kyle Brooks, Jennifer Brooks and Rachel Brooks. In addition to his parents, Mr. Brooks was predeceased by three brothers, Jewell Brooks, Willie Brooks and Paul Brooks, and by three sisters, Lillian Phillips, Ruby Voyles and Mary Elrod.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Friday at Mauldin First Baptist Church with Rev. Wade Leonard and Rev. Dr. L.E. Williamson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The body is at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown and will be placed in the church at 9:30 AM Friday where the family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 AM, prior to the service.
