Bennie Harold Garland, 94, of 2048 Powdersville Road, passed away Saturday, September 18, 2010, at Baptist Easley Hospital.
Born in Stephens County, GA, the son of the late Tom and Bessie Shaw Garland, Mr. Garland retired from the White Horse and Dunean Plants of J.P. Stevens Company and was a member of Victory Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Lena J. Williams Garland, of the home; a son, Samuel Payne (Judy) of Simpsonville; two daughters, Betty P. Matthews (Joe) of Greenville, and Ellen G. Matthews (Roy) of Easley; a brother, Dewey Garland of Toccoa, GA; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Garland was predeceased by a grandson, Steven Matthews, two great-granddaughters, Amanda McJunkin and Lynn Payne, three brothers and three sisters.
Graveside services will be 3:00 p.m. Monday at Robinson Memorial Gardens, 1425 Powdersville Road.
The family will receive friends at the graveside immediately following the service.
The family is at the home of Ellen and Roy Matthews, 101 Magnolia Avenue, Easley, SC 29642.
