Bernard Ray Downes, 76, of 300 Earle Road, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, September 13, 2009 at his home.
Born in Claymont, Delaware, he was a son of the late Thomas J. and Hattie Roagers Downes. He was a retired auditor with the Wheaton Glass Company in Millville, NJ, was a member of Trinity Wesleyan Church and a US Army veteran of Korea.
Surviving are his wife, Joyce C. Kelley Downes of the home; two daughters, Kathryn Tilton and husband, Lee of Millville, NJ and Bernadette McKelvey and husband, Daniel of Central; a step-son, Robert Williams and wife, Peggy of Canton, IL; two brothers, Robert Downes of Orlando, Fl and Tom Downes of New Castle, DE; three sisters, Violet Dalecki of Newark, DE, Marion Gilchrist of Long Beach, CA and Margaret Nelson of Millsboro, DE; 9 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one brother and four sisters.
Funeral services will be 11 AM, Thursday at Trinity Wesleyan Church with Revs. Don Milstead and James Wiggins officiating.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 AM, Thursday prior to the service at the church.
The family is at the home.
