Bernhard F. Giehl

Bernhard Frederick Giehl, 94, formerly of Allentown, NJ, husband of 72 years to Carolyn Virginia Burtis Giehl, died Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at his home.
Born in Cologne, Germany, he was a son of the late Andreas and Lina Lindemeier Giehl. He was a retired operations manager with NJ Bell Telephone. During WWII, while serving with Army Air Corps he taught at Yale University and then following Victory in Europe was assigned to the Pacific Theatre.
He and his wife traveled extensively during their retirement years prior to moving to the Central area. Ben was a life long hunter/fisherman and during retirement years added a hobby in the computer field.
He is predeceased by his son, Wayne (Kathleen) Giehl of Hightstown, NJ; brother Helmuth Giehl and sisters Lottie Hays and Margaret Giehl.
Surviving in addition to his wife are, sons, Robert Giehl of Plymouth, NH, Glenn (Mary) Giehl of Jackson, NJ and Richard Giehl of Plymouth, NH; daughter Deborah (Ron) Cadorette of Central; brother, Walter Giehl of Tenton, NJ; sister, Anne Leslie of Trenton, NJ; 9 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
