Bernice Roper Kelly, 102, of Central and widow of Harvey Kelly went to be with the Lord, Sunday, January 6, 2013 at the Rainey Hospice House in Anderson. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother.
Born in Central, she was a daughter of the late John Samuel and Olivia Jane Howe Roper. Mrs. Kelly was a retired employee of Cannon Mills and Pratt-Read of Central and was a member of The Mount Baptist Church in Clemson.
Surviving are two daughters, Eleanor Gibson and Jean Holladay both of Clemson; half-brother, Wilton Roper of Clemson; four half-sisters, Dorothy Traynum of Pendleton, Rachel Morrison of Central, Reba Smith of Clemson and Zelma Rosco of Charlotte, NC; 5 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Kelly was predeceased in death by 2 sisters, Jessie Roper Martin and Frances Roper Sears; brother, Paul Roper; 4 half-brothers, John Roper, Jr., Ray Roper, Adger Roper and Marion Roper; son-in-law, Joe Gibson; and granddaughter, Judy Gibson.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM, Tuesday at Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be 11 AM Wednesday in the chapel of Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home, Central with burial to follow in Memory Gardens, Clemson.
The family will be at their respective homes.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.
