Bernice "Bunt" Sweet Owens, 88, formerly of the Arial Community, wife of the late Lonnie Charles Owens, went to be with her Lord and Saviour Thursday May 3, 2007 at Laurel Hill Living Center.

Born in Piedmont, she was a daughter of the late Ed Grover and Mamie Leona Garrick Sweet.
Mrs. Owens retired from Alice Mfg. Company - Arial Plant and was a member of the former Arial Church of God, however she had been attending the United Wesleyan Church, where she was a member of the Ladies Bible Class.

Surviving is her daughter, Gail Owens Aiken and her husband, Jimmy, of Pickens ; three sisters, Effie Lee Dobson, Helen Garrett, and Mary Ramey, all of Easley ; two grandchildren, Rhonda Lance and her husband, Dale, of Pickens and Roger Aiken and his wife, Ileen, of Liberty ; three great-grandchildren, Michael Lance, Levi Lance and Seth Aiken.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Roger Owens; three brothers, Pearson Sweet, Lewis Sweet and Walter G. Sweet, Sr and two sisters, Lena Holliday and Jessie Bentley.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Saturday in the Chapel at Robinson Funeral Home - Downtown, conducted by the Reverends Lawrence Keever, Donnie Massingill and Mrs. Eunice Galloway. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Active pallbearers will be Roger Aiken, Dale Lance, Michael Lance, Ricky Garrett, Scott Holliday and Jerry Owens. The escort of honor will be the Ladies Bible Class from United Wesleyan Church and a group of special friends.

The family is at the home of Gail and Jimmy Aiken, 1044 Belle Shoals Road, Pickens, and will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
