Bernt George "Bernie" Iversen, Sr. died Friday, July 21, 2006 at Brighton Gardens of Greenville, SC. He was 77. He was married to the late Elsie Lena Iversen (Klotz).

Born in Chicago, Illinois, he was the son of the late Peter and Anna Iversen. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mining Engineering from the University of Illinois in Champaign. He retired from IMO Delaval as a regional sales manager.

Bernie Iversen was very active and involved with his kids and grandchildren, an avid golfer and fisherman, enjoyed ballroom dancing and was the former commissioner of the Southfield Little League Association. He was very proud of his faith as well as being an elder for years at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Westchester, IL.

Bernie Iversen is survived by two sons, Bernt G. "Bernie" Iversen, II. and his wife Bonnie Iversen of Six Mile, SC, Robert Iversen and his wife Sandra Iversen of Bolingbrook, IL; a daughter, Susan Gamble and her husband Shane Gamble of Easley, SC; a brother, Ralph Iversen and his wife Barbara Iversen of Granada Hills, CA; six loving grandchildren, Chloe and MacKenzie Iversen, Kyle and Trevor Iversen, Leah and Brendan Gamble and step grandson, Jonathon Gamble. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased in death by his sister, Grace Samuelson.

The family expresses their heartfelt thanks to the caregivers, doctors and nurses of Brighton Garden and Southern Care Hospice for their loving and compassionate care.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home - Powdersville Road with Reverend Roy McCall officiating. Burial will take place next Tuesday at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Arlington Heights, IL.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Marathon Community Church Children's Ministry; 315 Roe Road; Greenville, SC 29611

The family is at the home of Susan Gamble; 209 High Ridge Court; Easley, SC 29642.
