Mr. Berry Eugene Adams, 85, passed away Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at the Aboretum at the Woodlands at Furman.
Born on May 17, 1931 in Elberton, GA, Mr. Adams was the son of the late James Clark and Eva Moss Adams. He was a graduate of WLT High School and Wofford College. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed his fellowship with the Men's Golf Association at Greer Country Club and later at Smithfield's Country Club upon moving to Easley in 1988. He also enjoyed reading, and spending time at his summer home in Surfside Beach with his family and friends. He was a member of Easley First Baptist Church and a US Army National Guard Veteran.
He enjoyed a long career in textiles and the paper industry, having retired as Executive Vice President, Mount Vernon Mills, Dryer Felt Division.
Surviving are a daughter, Julie Adams Cleveland (Johnny) of Easley; a son, Robert Eugene Adams (Laura) of Lyman; and a sister, Melvene Adams Owens of Greer. He was "Pap" to his four grandchildren, John Baker Cleveland, III of Easley, Virginia Anne Cleveland of Liberty, and Megan Jeanette Adams and Bailey Christine Adams, both of Lyman. In addition to his parents, Mr. Adams was predeceased by his loving wife of sixty-one years, Jeanette Harvey Adams.
Cryptside services will be 2:00 PM Friday, April 28, 2017 in Hillcrest Memorial Park Mausoleum with Rev. Dr. John Adams officiating.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service, cryptside.
The family will host a reception following the service at the home of Mr. Adams.
Family members are at their respective homes.
The family wishes to thank the dedicated staff of The Willows of Easley, and later the Arboretum at the Woodlands at Furman, during his final years there. Also many thanks to the caring and supportive staff at South Carolina Hospice and Palliative Care. We are grateful for you all.
