Bertha Sloan

Bertha M. Sloan, 101, formerly of 100 South Third Street, and more recently of The Magnolia's of Easley, died Tueday, June 27, 2006.
Born in Oconee County, a daughter of the late William A. and Helen Enlow Sloan, Miss Sloan retired from the Easley Plant of Woodside Mills in 1967 and was the oldest member of Geer Memorial Baptist Church where she was very active for many years.
Surviving are two nieces, whom she helped raise, Helen H. Perry and her husband, Clarence, of St. Louis, MO, and Shirlee H. Pitts and her husband, Otis, of Hickory, NC; a brother, Alton Sloan and his wife, Lois, of Atlanta; and a sister, Clara Prince of Laurens; and several other nieces and nephews . In addition to her parents, Miss Sloan was predeceased by two sisters, Alma Hudson and Ruth Burrell, and by five brothers, Jesse, Claude, John, Phillip and Ray Sloan.
Graveside services will be 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Graceland West Cemetery with Rev. Archie Sharp and Rev. Herbert Neely officiating.
The body is at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown where the family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. Thursady, prior to the service.
The family wishes to express their grateful appreciation to Eva Yates, Margie Silkwood, Hospice of the Upstate and Magnolia's of Easley for the exceptional care they gave to Miss Sloan.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Building Fund of Geer Memorial Baptist Church, 911 South Fifth Street, Easley, SC 29640 or to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621 .
