Bessie Gibson Wigington

Bessie Gibson Wigington, 88, of 207 Wigington Road, passed away Thursday, December 21, 2017 at St. Francis Hospital.

Born in Seneca, SC, Mrs. Wigington was a daughter of the late Elliott L. and and Bessie James Gibson. She graduated from Keowee High School and Draughon's Business College. Mrs. Wigington worked at the Furman Company for several years and was Secretary of Wigington Surplus. She was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church for thirty-five years where she belonged to the Webb Pepper Sunday School Class. Mrs. Wigington was active in the GA's, the WMU, and she was a Sunday School Teacher. Prior to Her membership at Mt. Pisgah, she was a member of Corinth Baptist Church. She was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels.

Surviving are her husband of fifty years, Elihu Wigington, Jr. of the home; two brothers Horace (Rosa) Gibson of Pendleton and Floyd Gibson (Jo) of Easley. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wigington was predeceased by her brothers, Nelson, Henry, and Lloyd Gibson; and a sister, Nellie Harvey.

The Memorial Service will be 11:00 AM Saturday, December 23, 2017 in the Chapel of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church conducted by the Reverend Chad Campbell. The family will receive friends in the Family Life Center immediately following the Memorial Service. A private Committal Service will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery.

Escort of Honor will be the members of the Webb Pepper Sunday School Class.
