Bettie London Traxler

Bettie London Wooten Traxler, 97, widow of William Byrd Traxler Sr., passed away May 7, 2020. Born May 25, 1922 in Fayetteville, NC, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Myers Wooten and Lucy London Anderson Wooten. A graduate of St. Mary's College in Raleigh, NC, she was an active member of the Altar Guild and Episcopal Church Women at Christ Episcopal Church Greenville for over fifty years and a former member of the Quadrille and Colonial Dames of America.
After marriage in 1946, Bettie moved to her husband's hometown of Greenville, SC, where they raised their family. She is survived by sons, William B. Traxler, Jr. (Pat) and Thomas W. Traxler (Beth), both of Greenville and a daughter, Lucy L. McDow (Thomas) of Rock Hill, SC. She is also survived by her adoring grandchildren, Will Traxler, James Traxler, Dr. Brannon Traxler (Tony Roach), and Tommy Traxler (Rachel Bright) and three step-grandchildren, Dodie McDow (Alison), Randy McDow (Lauren), and Mary Croom McDow. She is also survived by her siblings, Tommy Wooten (Elizabeth) of Fayetteville, NC, and Lucy Lynn Wofford of Arlington, VA, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Because covid-19 was the cause of death, her three children who had been with her are currently under quarantine. There will be a private funeral at Christ Church cemetery where she will be buried. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
