Betty Ann Furman McKenzie

November 26, 1933 — June 1, 2021

Betty Ann Furman McKenzie formerly of Garden City Beach, SC passed away peacefully at her home on June 1, 2021. The daughter of Frank and Helena Furman, she was born on November 26, 1933 in Fort Worth, Texas. Raised in Jacksonville, FL, Betty graduated Landon High School and attended Florida State University. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Frank H. Furman, sister, Jean Dart, and her very good friend and fellow explorer, Sara Francis Gaines.

Betty was a proud Navy wife, adventurer, and adoring mother to three sons: Jeffrey, Christopher, and Garrett. Always on the move, she enjoyed sailing, camping, horses, and spending quality time with her many beloved pets. A ready smile and quick wit, she never met a stranger and would gladly lend a handto anyone in need. Betty possessed an entrepreneurial spirit and genuine love of peoplethat led her to become a caregiver late in life. Most of all, Betty was an amazing friend, devout Christian, and a loving mother who never failed to tell everyone she met how proud she was of her sons, their families, and the friends she's made along the way. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Her family would like to especially thank her devoted and faithful caregivers, Andrea Boykin and Sophia Brady, for their love and support over the last few years. Their attentiveness, patience and understanding made all the difference.

Left to cherish her memory, Betty is survived by her 3 sons and their wives: Jeffrey and Heather McKenzie (grandchildren: Zachary, Jordan, and Ryan, and great-grandchildren: Mikayla and Jackson) of Virginia Beach, VA; Christopher and Karah McKenzie of Las Vegas, NV; and Garrett McKenzie (grandchildren: Patrick, Ryan, and Casey, and great- grandchild: Vera) of Boca Raton, FL.

A memorial service will be held on June 13th, at Mount Zion Cemetery in Central, SC. Betty wanted her memorial to be a celebration of life with no 'sad faces,' and no regrets.
