Betty Anne Lawrence Lafforthun

January 4, 1940 — April 8, 2019

Betty Anne Rawl Lawrence Lafforthun, 79, of Clemson passed away peacefully at Oakleaf Village in Greenville on April 8, 2019.

Born in Columbia, SC, she was the daughter of the late James Frank and Vanderlyn Frances Sanders Rawl. Betty Anne was a 1962 graduate of Erskine College and former President of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. For 28 years she taught school in Oconee County at Kellett and Code Elementary Schools in Seneca. Betty Anne was an active member of Clemson First Baptist Church, most recently in the Esther Sunday School Class. She enjoyed reading, playing bridge, and dancing and was a member of the Gourmands Supper Club.

Surviving are her husband, Neil Frank Lafforthun, Sr. of Greenville; brother, James Frank Rawl, Jr. of Atlanta; son, Todd Lawrence (Kimberly) of Fountain Inn, SC; daughter, Suzanne Lawrence (Chris Barutha) of Greenville; and grandchildren, Charlotte and Kate Lawrence.

Funeral services will be 2 PM, Sunday, April 14, 2019 at First Baptist Church, Clemson with Dr. Roger Lovette officiating.

The family will greet friends immediately following the service at the church.

A private graveside committal service will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Columbia, SC.
