Betty Jo Bishop Ballenger

July 21, 1933 — April 24, 2023

 

Betty Jo Bishop Ballenger, 89, of Easley, wife of the late Samuel Martin Ballenger, passed away on Monday, April 24, 2023. 

Born in Campobello, SC, she was a daughter of the late Furman Baxter and Roselle Bishop. Betty retired as a Unit Secretary from St. Francis Hospital and was a member of Tanglewood Baptist Church. She loved shopping and reading and was an excellent cook. Above all, she loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

She is survived by two sons, Scott Ballenger (Penny), and Jeff Ballenger (Amy); a sister, Debbie Fincher (Dwain); five grandchildren, Matthew (Jessica), Shelby (Chad), Jason (Francis), Candace, and Kelly; and six great-grandchildren, Addisyn, Kade, Rocklan, Ridge, Summer, and Cole. 

In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by a son, Tony Ballenger; and a brother, Donald Bishop. 

Graveside services will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at Greenville Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends immediately following the service. 

The family would like to give special thanks to her caregiver, Carolyn Gambrell, for her loving care of Betty. 

Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, www.ALZ.org, or to Pickens County Meals on Wheels, www.PCMOW.org.
