Betty Jean Bratcher Boatwright, 84, beloved wife of Ralph Nicholson “Nick” Boatwright, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 13, 2023 at Clemson Downs Long Term Health Center.

Betty Jean was born in Edgefield County to the late Otis Roy Bratcher and Margaret Ouzts Holmes. She was a proud graduate of Edgefield High School. Throughout her life, Betty Jean dedicated herself to caring for her husband of 66 years and raising their three loving sons. She found joy in creating crafts, tending to her beautiful flower garden, indulging in video games, and loved the Clemson Tigers.

In addition to her devoted husband Nick, she is survived by three sons: Randy Boatwright and his wife Joy of Clemson; Jay Boatwright and his wife Nancy of Landrum; and Steven Boatwright and his wife Jennifer of Lexington, SC. Betty Jean adored her grandchildren: Nicholas, Kathleen, Jacob, Ben, Olivia, Ellen, and John. She also leaves behind a half-sister, Greta Holmes Cross of Richmond, VA.

A casual celebration of Betty Jean's Life will be held at the Clemson University Alumni Center on Saturday, December 16, 2023 from 3 to 5 PM.
